Bekendmaking van het PROUD-project: etalages en scènes
De laatste maanden hebben we werk gemaakt van het inrichten van etalages of het opzetten van kleine scènes die een beeld geven van het PROUD-project. Zo was er in oktober 2020 een etalage die het Proud-project toonde binnen de context van de Oegandese samenleving. De foto’s werden aangemaakt bij Photoshop in Gent waar een aangename sfeer hangt van kunst en kwaliteit. De etalage, onmiddellijk naast de inkom van het gemeentehuis van Berlare, werd ter beschikking gesteld door Kurt. Het is prettig dat hij elke avond de spots op de tentoonstelling zet, waardoor deze meer opvalt. Freddy Vanhoef hielp met de voorbereiding en inrichting; hij houdt van foto- en precisiewerk. De bedoeling is het project verder bekend te maken bij de inwoners van Berlare.
We mochten recent ook een nieuwe etalage inrichten voor Kerstmis. Daarbij konden een Afrikaans kerststalletje en een kerstboom niet ontbreken. Het thema van de foto’s is deze keer “vriendschap”. 3 foto’s van Arinda die op het project wordt opgehaald door een familie-vriend spreken boekdelen. Tijdens de kerstdagen komen mensen elkaar meer nabij, ook als ze ver van elkaar wonen en elkaar niet fysiek ontmoeten. Dat hebben we geleerd van het virus.
Kerstscènes met Afrikaanse materialen werden ook opgezet in de bibliotheek van Berlare en in het wachtzaalje van een kiné-praktijk in Laarne en een dokterspraktijk in Berlare.

Visibility of the PROUD project
In recent months we have been working on setting up small expositions that give a picture of the PROUD project. In October 2020, for example, there was a photo exhibition that showed the Proud project within the context of Ugandan society. The photos were created at Photoshop in Ghent where there is a pleasant atmosphere of art and quality. The exposition window, immediately next to the entrance of the town hall of Berlare, was made available by Kurt. It is nice that he puts the spotlights on the photos every night, which adds to the visibility of the exhibition. Freddy Vanhoef helped with the preparation and installation; he loves photo and precision work. Our aim is to make the project known to the inhabitants of the commune of Berlare.
We were also recently allowed to set up a new exposition at the same place, this time for Christmas. An African nativity and a Christmas tree could not be missed. The theme of the photos we show this time is "friendship". 3 photos of Arinda being picked up at the project by a family friend speak volumes. During Christmas, people get closer to each other, even if they live far from each other and do not meet physically. That's what we learned from the virus.
Christmas scenes with African materials were also set up in the public library of Berlare and in the waiting room of a physiotherapy practice in Laarne and a doctor in Berlare.
