2020 Projectvoortgang tijdens het coronajaar (deel 2) 

Tijdens de ‘break’ hebben we wel doorgewerkt aan de afwerking van een aantal gebouwen, voor zover de budgettaire situatie het toeliet. In de home stay (unit 2) werden alle lokalen van lavobo’s voorzien, werd het sanitair afgewerkt en ook de stock voor de keuken is klaar. Aan alle bijgebouwen werden dakgoten gehangen. Met de gemeenschapskantine (unit 3), het grootste gebouw van PROUD Village, werd ook vooruitgang geboekt. Met de steun van de gemeente Berlare werden ramen en schuifdeuren geplaatst, een plafond gestoken en voorzieningen getroffen voor de elektriciteit. Daarmee zitten we nog altijd op schema, al is de fondsenwerving voor ons, net als voor andere verenigingen, dit jaar een probleem. Ophangen dakgoten (bijgebouwen unit 2)

Al bij al was 2020 een moeilijk jaar, maar niet negatief over de hele lijn. We hebben geen bezoek kunnen brengen aan Oeganda, maar je kan gerust stellen dat het PROUD team de zaken goed in handen heeft genomen. Tegelijkertijd is de solidariteit tussen de in het project betrokken partijen alleen maar gegroeid. Meer ownership en de bevestiging dat we werken voor iets waardevols. Ouders en kinderen apprecieerden dat het project met hen in contact bleef en oog bleef houden voor hun behoeften. En er is meer gecommuniceerd dan ooit. Praten met elkaar helpt om elkaar beter te verstaan.


2020 Project progress during the corona year (part 2)

During the 'break' we worked on the finishing of a number of buildings, as far as the budgetary situation allowed. In the home stay (unit 2) all rooms were provided with sinks, the sanitary facilities were finished and also the stock for the kitchen. Gutters were installed on all buildings of unit 2. The community canteen (unit 3), Proud village's largest building, was also worked on. With the support of the municipality of Berlare, windows and sliding doors were installed, a ceiling was set and electricity facilities were made. All in all, 2020 was a difficult year, but therefore not negative. We have not been able to visit Uganda, but it is safe to say that the PROUD team has taken matters into its own hands. At the same time, solidarity between the parties involved in the project has grown. This means that there is more local ownership. We also got the confirmation that we are working for a good cause. Parents and children appreciated that the project stayed in touch with them and kept an eye on their needs. And there has been more communication between parties involved than ever. Talking to each other helps to understand each other better.
