Kiki as a tourist in Kisoro

The names of the 3 volcanic mountains in Kisoro

In Kisoro there are three volcanic mountains which are Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabinyo. These three mountains their names have meanings: Muhabura means guide; Gahinga means being short and small; Sabinyo means teeth because its structures resemble the teeth like that of an old man.

Activities in Mgahinga national park and categories of visitors

The first activity is mountain hiking on Mount Gahinga. The second activity is Gorilla tracking in Mgahinga. In Mgahinga national park there are ten gorillas which are used to people and can be tracked. These ten gorillas have the head of the family called silverback. There is also Golden monkey tracking. It is called Golden monkey because of its golden colour. There is also bird watching like spotting Rwenzori truckle. It was called so because it was first sighted at Rwenzori.

There are different categories of visitors and amounts paid for gorilla tracking. Foreign non residents pay 600 dollars per person; East Africans pay 250.000 Ugandan shillings per person what means less then a 100 dollars.
